Mark Meadows Turns Himself In at Fulton County Jail
Former Trump White House Chief of Staff Surrenders to Authorities
Atlanta, GA – July 20, 2023 – Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff to President Donald Trump, has surrendered to authorities at Fulton County Jail. Meadows was ordered by a federal judge to testify before a grand jury investigating allegations of election interference in the 2020 presidential election.
Meadows had previously refused to comply with a subpoena to testify, prompting the judge to issue a contempt of court ruling and order his arrest. Meadows' attorney filed an emergency motion to stay the arrest, but it was denied. Meadows subsequently turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday morning.
Meadows is expected to be held in jail until he agrees to testify before the grand jury. The investigation is examining whether Meadows and other Trump allies engaged in criminal activity in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Meadows' arrest is a significant development in the investigation into Trump's efforts to subvert the election. Meadows was a close advisor to Trump and was involved in many of the discussions about how to overturn the election results.
Meadows' testimony could provide valuable evidence about Trump's role in the plot to overturn the election. The investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear whether Meadows will face criminal charges.
